What In The World Are "Country Collections" and Why Are They The Future Way To SHOP!?
We’ve changed up how our customers shop! Instead of shopping first by product, with us, you shop first by country. We found an importance in being able to bring unique finds and what we like to call “treasure pieces” from around the world to as many people as possible. You see, when we (the founders) first started traveling for leisure we would always bring back suitcases full of fun gifts for our friends and family. Mostly because many of them didn’t have the time or money to go traveling themselves.
On top of that, we discovered how many of these products were made with such high quality with resources sourced right from the very same countries themselves. To top that all off – we learned that many of these artisans and manufacturers are the same producers of many of the same global designer brands so many of us know and love.
You get an experience unlike any other. Instead of having to pay for that expensive flight across the globe for that one-of-a-kind shopping experience that may not be practical right now, we’ve done the hunting for you. We’ve searched for those small boutiques in Italy with no online presence but a rich history full of craftsmanship and art all wrapped into the perfect Italian leather bag. We found that major and top of the line manufacturer in all things wool because, well, they are in Iceland and they have mastered warmth! We’ve brought those knitwear sweaters all the way from Ireland that you’re always searching for to get you through the long winter months but can never find the best quality of. That’s because they started in Ireland and remain on top there! With intricate knits of the finest wool making a sweater of both beauty and warmth. The list goes on and on.
So, what are you waiting for? Check out our Country Collections!
Through the centuries, the wool has kept the people of Iceland warm and has been an essential part of their everyday life, no matter the activity. The Icelandic wool is an environmentally friendly natural product and has proved to be extremely protective during the harsh Arctic winter.
“Our flagship is the Icelandic fleece, which has a history spanning over a millennium in harsh Icelandic weather conditions. The wool is warm, light, breathable, and water repellent. For a long time the Icelandic wool was one of Iceland’s biggest exports."
Our Iceland pieces are hand-stitched together from the wool coat of the freely roaming Icelandic Sheep across the island.
Sustainability
The production process for wool yarn is incredibly sustainable. We use natural sources such as clean water and geothermal energy when making our wool yarn. The Icelandic sheep roam freely in nature grazing on grass and wild flora. The cleaning of the wool is done as free of chemicals and detergents as possible in order to protect its natural oil coating; resulting in a warm, light and water repellent wool clothing. That said, we are constantly trying to improve the texture and softness of the wool without losing its inherent qualities.”
Why Iceland Wool Above All?
History- “The origin of the Icelandic wool has a history all the way back to the settlement when the Norwegians moved to Iceland with sheep. Over the years, the Icelandic sheep has become unique with it’s wool – adapting to a double layer.”
The Double Layered Wool-“There is an outer layer with a large diameter that protects the sheep against humidity cold and wetness. As well as an inner layer, which is composed of a sort of insulation hair which is shorter and thinner.”
Strengths for Everyday Wear - "Due to it's evolved state - the Icelandic sheep's wool is not only extremely warm, but it also water repellent, making it ideal for all sorts of garments."
From the maker of the bag to the location in which it is made all the way to the inside history of the brand. Authentic Italian leather, designing and manufacturing.

History
In Western Ireland, right off the coast of Galway is a place where prehistoric Celtic remains lie. A place where antiques and beauty have come from a long line of ancient Irish folklore. This is the Aran Islands.
Here is where the Aran Sweater developed its historic symbol across hundreds of clans. Each pattern having a significant meaning and passed down through generations.
Intricate Designs
The intricate and unique designs of the Aran Sweater were inspired by the Celts, whose design influence and ancient relics are still very much a part of today’s Aran landscape.
Inspiring Landscape
The Islands have long since been a source of creativity for all who encounter its rugged shoreline. It is also famed for its people of courageous heart and resourceful nature, who fought so hard to find life on land which was never supposed to be inhabited.
For centuries, the Islanders have lived by working the land, farming, fishing, harvesting and of course by knitting the famous Aran sweaters that have made them famous throughout the world today.

Starting in 2020, Johnstons of Elgin took the pledge to use 100% renewable sources for electricity. Currently, they are also working on “recapturing energy from hot water and to reduce the temperature of the water used in our processes.”

Where Does It Come From
“Our Cashmere comes from China, Mongolia and Afghanistan.” – Johnstons of Elgin
Finishing Touch
“For woven items such as scarves, stoles and rugs, the following steps are warping, tying and drawing before a product is woven and inspected.” – Johnstons of Elgin

In The Making
Esther was born and grew up in Berlin, took some time to expand in Moscow and then Paris.
